ERDA Institute
is a charitable trust established in 1999 with the support of Bill Mollison,
founder of permaculture, to further opportunities in Permaculture Education
and associated activities at Djanbung Gardens and it's extension work throughout
Australasia.
ERDA Institute supports a range of education and training programmes in Permaculture
Design, organic food production, community development, practical skills for
sustainable living and the development of human potential.
With the introduction of Accredited Permaculture Training (APT), the entities
operating at Djanbung Gardens Permaculture Education Centre have been restructured.
From January 2004, the main APT programmes have been delivered by Permaculture
Education.
ERDA Institute main activities will include:
Managing
labour market programmes (e.g. Work for the Dole) for unemployed youth
coordinating Internship and volunteer 'work for skills' programmes
including WWOOF'ers
faciltating the establishment of a Bioregional Campus Register of trainers,
permaculture properties and enterprises interested in on-ground and work-place
training for APT students
administering donations for scholarships for economically disadvantaged
students, especialy from developing countries to participate in APT programmes
ACCREDITATION
The first fully
accredited permaculture training programmes were delivered at Djanbung Gardens
in 2004.
